Kathmandu, March 7: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli formally inaugurated the Nepal Pulp and Paper Industries, which was launched by the IME Group in Mohattari, Ramnagar, on Thursday, by unveiling a copper plate on the industry premises.

PM Oli also inspected the paper production process and the environmentally friendly calcium carbonate production facility in the industry.

This industry, established with an investment of Rs 2 billion, has now started producing 75 metric tons of quality paper suitable for writing and printing on an industrial scale every day. In the first phase, the industry started producing paper used for photocopying and copying books.

The production of photocopy paper and other papers, which are in high demand in educational, administrative and many other sectors, will address the demand of the domestic market. The factory will also produce paper used for textbooks.

Addressing the industry inauguration ceremony, IME Group Chairman Chandra Prasad Dhakal said that the operation of Nepal Pulp and Paper Industries is not only the formal entry of IME Group into the manufacturing sector but also a new awakening in Nepal’s industrial journey.

Chairman Dhakal also mentioned that the operation of the new industry is an example of the country’s commitment to self-reliance, economic growth and sustainable industrial development and that the private sector has become an example in supporting the national aspiration of development.
