A powerful boost has been provided to the RPP with the formalization of the Mahakali Treaty between Nepal and India which not only achieved agreement on the principal of equal a haring of benefits of water resources between Nepal and India but has also succeeded in putting the controversial Tanakpur Treaty, signed by the Nepali Congress government led by Prime Minister Giriga Prasad Koirala in 1991, finally behind the Nation.

That the treaty was, on Nepal’s behalf, initiated by RPP’s Dr. Prakash Chandra Lohani, as Foreign Minister, visibly underlined the RPP’s important contribution to that achievement.
