Kathmandu, February 24: Consul General of Nepali Mission in Lhasa, Srilakshmi Prasad Niraula held a courtesy meeting with Chen Jun, Director General of the Department of Commerce of China’s Xinjiang Autonomous Region, at the Consulate General’s Office in Lhasa. On the occasion, discussions were held on various aspects of relations between the two countries, including trade, commerce, transit, trade fairs and meetings of the Trade Facilitation Committee.

During the meeting, Consul General Niraula highlighted the historical ties between the two countries linked by the Himalayas, and mountain rivers, expressed his appreciation for the assistance China has provided to Nepal so far and expressed confidence that such cooperation will continue in the future.

The Director General appreciated the role played by the Consulate General in strengthening relations between the two countries and conveyed that China stands ready to assist in the development of bilateral relations.

During the meeting, the two sides expressed their commitment to take initiatives to further strengthen the trade, commerce and transit sectors between Nepal and China, to export Nepal’s agricultural products to China, to be active in the effective implementation of the projects implemented during the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Nepal in 2019, to take initiatives to streamline and manage all border checkpoints more effectively, to make joint efforts to resolve problems at border checkpoints, to develop infrastructure in the region, to exchange bilateral visits, to participate in trade fairs and festivals held in each other’s country, and to work in a coordinated manner for the benefit of the two countries and peoples.
