Kathmandu, February 23: Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chairman Rajendra Lingden has said that an attempt is being made to portray opposing the republic as opposing democracy.

Speaking at the House of Representatives meeting on Sunday, Lingden said that he would continue to oppose the republic, adding that an attempt was being made to portray opposing the republic as opposing democracy. He said the RPP believes that the King should be given space and that there should be a democracy with a king.

“I am the Chairman of a party that wants the King to be given space in politics and state administration,” said Lingden. “Therefore, no matter how much others oppose it, whether it is the republic that was introduced by fighting forces or by riding on the back of foreigners, I will continue to oppose it,” Lingden informed the House.

He further made it clear saying that he would continue to oppose the republic brought through foreign conspiracy.
