Kathmandu, February 21: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Senior Vice President Rabindra Mishra has remarked on the suspicious role of the two army chiefs contributed to declaring Nepal a republic nation. Mishra claimed it at a protest rally organized by the RPP in Pokhara today.
“Just as I have a complaint against the fake republican leaders for pushing the country towards a republic, I also have a complaint against the two generals of the Nepal Army,” Mishra said.
He claimed that he was a very aggressive defender of the Nepalese Army. He also claimed that he had taken the name of the army when seven parties were trying to take credit for ending the conflict in Nepal. He used to say, “The end of the conflict in this country was due to the patriotism and courage of the Nepali Army.”
Nevertheless, the two chiefs of the Nepal Army were unable to protect their supreme commander, the then king, promptly, Mishra said and added, “I have a big complaint against them.”
In any country, the army is the only institution that ensures long-term security and long-term interests of the country, Mishra explained. “If at the time of adoption of the republic, those two former army chiefs would have warned the leaders of the seven parties that the formers should not touch the institution of monarchy, it could have been saved and republicanism would never have existed bringing the present anomalies”.
