
Kathmandu, February 16: Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba and Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad bin Sultan Al Muraikhi held a meeting in Muscat, the capital of Oman, on Sunday. The two ministers met on the sidelines of the 8th Indian Ocean Summit in Muscat, Oman, today.
During the meeting, they discussed various issues of bilateral interest and mutual benefit, including Nepal-Qatar relations, scholarships for Nepali students in Qatar, and skilled technical manpower.
Minister Rana praised the role played by the Qatari government in mediating between the Israeli government and Hamas for a ceasefire and peace talks and urged them to take special initiatives for the release of Bipin Joshi, who is under Hamas control.
The Nepalese government has been making diplomatic efforts for Bipin’s release since last year. Minister Rana has been urging for Bipin’s release through the United Nations, international and regional forums and meetings.
