
Kathmandu, February 16: A meeting of the ruling party’s chief whips has decided to move forward with the expeditious passage of the bill under consideration in Parliament. The decision was taken at a meeting held at the UML parliamentary party office in Singha Durbar on Sunday.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Chief Whip of the ruling party Mahesh Bartola said that discussions were held on taking forward the bill pending in Parliament. He informed about some important discussions regarding the ordinances introduced in Parliament. Barthoula, who is also the chief whip of the UML, said the chief whips of the ruling parties have insisted that more bills than those passed in the last four sessions should be passed from this session.
Stating that the ruling parties have similar opinions regarding endorsement of the School Education Bill and the civil servicemen Bill from the current session, he said, “There was a discussion on moving forward some pending bills in the parliament. There were also some discussions regarding the ordinances introduced in Parliament. We have also discussed that in the next meeting, it can be taken on the agenda.”
“Several important bills are pending in the House. There are also public comments. The current session is the bill session”, he said. The education bill will determine whether or not the federal civil law bill moves forward. He said that it has been a matter of bringing the important issues to a conclusion.
He informed that the pending bills in both the Houses will be taken forward and the bills passed from one will also be sent to the other. He said that work should be done to pass more bills from this session. He said that education and the federal civil service bill have been given first priority.
He said, “The meeting was held on the subject of the bills currently under consideration. We have discussed. The process of passing our bill was a little slow. We are also worried about it. We have discussed how to speed it up. We have given priority to the School Education Bill and the Civil Servants Bill. We have concluded that these two bills should be passed by this House in any case”.
