
Kathmandu, February 10: The Ministry for Communications and Information Technology has decided to celebrate National Democracy Day with grandeur and the programs and responsibilities to be carried out by the bodies related to the Ministry have been allotted.
A meeting of the Publicity Sub-Committee held today under the coordination of the Secretary of the Ministry of Communications, Radhika Aryal, set the responsibilities of different seven bodies under the Ministry for the grand celebration of the Democracy Day 2081 BS.
The National News Agency (RAS) is tasked with reporting on democracy, publishing articles, conducting interviews, and translating articles and interviews through the English News Service. The Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) will arrange, monitor, coordinate and facilitate the transmission of greeting messages through SMS, ringback tones and digital display boards in connection with the National Democracy through all telecommunication service providers.
Nepal Telecom has been entrusted with the responsibility of sending SMS regarding the Republic Day, conveying the greetings message of the day on digital displays. Similarly, the Advertisement Board will have to prepare public welfare advertisements related to Republic Day and send them for publication in 866 newspapers across the country and coordinate the implementation. The board has to work in coordination with Nepal Television to arrange the broadcasting of public awareness materials through various FM radios across the country.
Gorkhapatra Corporation will publish and disseminate content, prepare and publish multimedia content, opinions, interviews, articles and creations covering various aspects of the Republic Day through Gorkhapatra Daily, The Rising Nepal and Online. The Corporation will publish a special issue covering various aspects of building a national democracy and its implementation.
Similarly, the Public Service Broadcasting Organization (Radio Nepal) will broadcast live the original ceremony, broadcast radio drama, conduct intercommunication, and symposium programs, broadcast awakening songs, songs on national democracy, and public awareness materials based on the original slogan of National Democracy Day, 2081, and produce and broadcast news and programs in the national language from all regional broadcasting centers.
Similarly, the Public Service Broadcasting Organization, Nepal Television (including regional channels) will prepare and broadcast documentaries related to democracy, including the original ceremony of the National Democracy Day and other major programs, holding seminars, dialogues, awakening songs, news, current affairs stories covering various aspects of democracy, conducting programs in mother tongues, national democracy, Nepal's flag, map, etc.
Similarly, the Department of Information and Technology will coordinate and facilitate the publication, broadcasting and dissemination of information on the importance of democracy in government, community and private sector media. The department has been entrusted with the responsibility of coordinating and facilitating the publication of special souvenirs in national-level journals as well as covering the multilateral dimension of democracy and writing articles in coordination with the Federation of Nepali Journalists.
