
Kathmandu, February 9: Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, the National Democracy Day, 2081 Main Celebration Committee has been formed.
In the meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Sunday at Simha Durbar, it was decided to celebrate the Day with big fanfare nationwide.
Addressing the meeting, Prime Minister Oli urged the people to celebrate the historic day of the sacrificial struggle of the Nepali people against tyranny and regression with great fanfare.
"This day is not to be celebrated only for a formality.” the PM said.
"It should be observed in every district with a great pride,” he said.
The Main Ceremony Committee, chaired by the Prime Minister, consists of the Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers and State Ministers, the Chief of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, the Chief Secretary to the Government of Nepal, the Chief of Army Staff, the Chief of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, the Secretary to the Government of Nepal and Gazetted Officers of Special Category, the Chiefs of Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and National Investigation Department, and the Chief of Municipality of Kathmandu Valley.
This year, on Falgun 6, 7 and 8, the festival will be celebrated with candlelighting at the Nepalese embassies, diplomatic missions and consulates of Nepal abroad. The main program will be held at the Nepali Army Pavilion in Tundikhel on Falgun 7 (February 19).
