
Kathmandu, February 6: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvisubba Gurung has said that the government is ready to provide 25 percent shares of the government owned companies to the general public.
Minister Gurung said this while speaking at the function organized the 21st anniversary of the Nepal Telecom. He said that since the government could not improve the public institutions, now the government is planning to increase the ownership of the public to 25 percent in institutions like Nepal Telecom and Nepal Electricity Authority.
He said that 92 percent of telecom shares belong to the government and only 8 percent to the public, and now it is necessary to increase the share to at least 25 percent.
