
Kathmandu, The fate of the ordinances issued by the government is going to be decided today. The ordinances have to be endorsed by the House of Representatives and the National Assembly. The government holds comfortable majority in the House of Representatives, however, the coalition government lacks majority in the National Assembly.
The NC-UML coalition government needs three more votes in the NA to secure a majority.
Nepali Congress’ NA member Krishna Shitaula said that the ordinances will be endorsed by the NA. Meanwhile, the Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal has shown a positive gesture by voting for the ordinances. However, the party has reservations about the ordinance related to land management. Otherwise, the party may vote to endorse ordinances with its reservations.
On the other hand, the opposition parties have tried to fail the ordinances.
Barshaman Pun, leader of the Maoist Center, claimed that the ordinances will be failed.
Deputy General Secretary of the Maoist Center, Pun, said that the ordinance introduced by the government by bypassing the parliament will fail in the National Assembly. Leader Pun said this at a press conference in Dhangadhi on Wednesday.
It is okay to distribute land to the landless and organize the unorganized sattlements, however, the way of issuing ordinances bypassing the House is not a democratic practice, Pun said.
