Maoist Center’s Chairman Pushpakamal Dahal “Prachanda”, during his visit to East Nepal, remarked that our youths have no affection for the motherland, therefore, they are leaving the country.
He remarked that the country’s educational system seems defective. He also recalled that during his time, he had to study social education, nowadays, this subject is not being taught and there is a lack of love among the youths towards the motherland.
If he is speaking from his heart, then it is a great change in his life.
Climate change and our responsibilities
Our intellectuals, political leaders and climate experts are expressing worry about the adverse impact of climate change but they never talk about how we can contribute to reducing the climate change impact.
We could see wildfire during March and April but in January and February this year, wildfire has spread in many jungles in the country.
Such wildfire incidents could be reduced by making aware locals settle down around the forest area and also by constructing water ponds, which would help to keep the soil wet and recharge the underground water.
Just recently, we read a report that an artificial pond helped to control wildfire in Kavre District. We needed to construct such ponds as much as possible along with firelines in jungles.
The local bodies should be mobilized to control wildfires to minimize air pollution and wildfires.
Meanwhile, in urban areas, if every house is asked to plant at least four trees on the rooftop, it would also contribute to purifying the air quality. Shouldn’t we think about these plans to control climate change?
Also, we can use our rooftop for growing green vegetables by substituting imports of vegetables from India. Let the local bodies take the idea into their consideration!
Those were the days
During the Panchayat days, there was a dress code on all the campuses. We remember the Padmakanya Campus and Ratna Rajya Laxmi Campus had introduced hand-made sarees as the dress code for the students. This was a brilliant idea that domestic industries producing such shares flourished along with promoting the Nepali culture of wearing sarees by girls.
