The Chinese New Year was marked with much fanfare in Thamel, Kathmandu.
Organised by the Chinese Embassy in support of different local organisations, the festival drew a big crowd in the tourist area of Kathmandu.
Chinese and Nepali artists together presented various performances during the Chinese New Year.
The event was attended by Deputy Speaker Indira Rana, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song, and other distinguished guests.
Cultural dances and songs reflecting the life of the Chinese people were showcased during the event turning the entire Thamel area colourful,
Earlier, similar events were also held at Tundikhel in Kathmandu to mark the occasion of the Chinese New Year.
Chinese New Year (also known as Spring Festival in China) this year fell on January 29. However, the annual festival is celebrated across the world for up to two weeks.
