
Kathmandu, January 27: Ramesh Chandra Poudel, newly assigned Ambassador of Nepal to Qatar, presented his credentials to Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, at a special ceremony on January 26.
Ambassador Poudel was welcomed with a guard of honour at the ceremony held at the Amiri Diwan (Palace Office).
During the courtesy call with the Emir after presenting the letter of credence, Ambassador Poudel said that the bilateral relations between Nepal and Qatar have reached a new height with the Emir’s visit to Nepal in April 2024, and expressed his best wishes for the Emir’s good health as well as the continued progress and prosperity of Qatar and the Qatari people.
Ambassador Poudel thanked the Emir and the Government of Qatar for the warm welcome accorded to him. He also expressed his commitment to work in various fields of mutual cooperation to further strengthen the close and cordial bilateral relations between Nepal and Qatar.
Expressing his heartfelt gratitude for the leadership role played by the Emir and the Qatari government in brokering a ceasefire between Israel and Palestine, Ambassador Poudel also requested to facilitate the release of Nepali student Bipin Joshi, who was taken hostage, at the earliest.
Welcoming Ambassador Poudel and congratulating him on the appointment of Nepal’s Ambassador to the State of Qatar, the Emir conveyed that the Government of Qatar would extend all possible support to the Ambassador in further strengthening the existing bilateral relations.
The Emir expressed Qatar’s commitment to continue its efforts for lasting peace in the Middle East. Saying that he was very happy with his visit to Nepal, he expressed his gratitude to the President of Nepal. At the same time, the Emir said that he was happy to welcome the Nepali immigrant community in Qatar.
The ceremony was attended by Kumar Rai, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar.
