Giraja Prasad Koirala, former Prime Minster and leader of the Nepali Congress Party said that any worker can hold the president’s chair. “It is not a great thing to hold the post, though, I have not yet thought about it, he said.

Koirala made this comment in a press meet program which was orgainzed by the Editor’s Society, Nepal on Monday.

Nevertheless, Koirala did not make any outright denial when questioned whether his present activities in the party were to achieve the party chairmanship.

Meanwhile, when asked to comment about the present coalition government led by the Nepali Congress, he said that the coalition government is the final way to save democracy. He pointed out that democracy is in danger from anti-democratic elements such as the Save the Nation activists and a faction of the UML party. Furthermore, he said that only a stable government can protect the democracy.
