Kathmandu, January 13: Kulman Ghising, Managing Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority has challenged the Energy Minister saying that he was assigned to the present post for four years and the Ministry cannot quit him.

Responding to a letter sent by the Ministry asking why the Ministry should not oust him from the present post, Ghising has stated that the Ministry has no authority to oust him.

In another question about Ghising’s non-cooperation with the Ministry on the trunk and dedicated lines issue, Ghising said that the commission formed by the government is against the law of the nation.

Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka had sent an eight-point clarification note with the plan of ousting Ghising on the charge of performing non-cooperation on the dedicated and feder line issue.

The government had asked Ghising to reconnect the supply of electricity to the industries which refused to pay the Authority’s dues. Ghising, to put pressure on the industries, had stopped the supply of electricity. Nevertheless, the government, under the influence of the businessmen, decided to resume electricity supply to the industries denying to pay the electricity bills.
