Kathmandu, January 6: Maoist Centre’s Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal presented the political report at the central committee meeting that began on Sunday.

Dahal acknowledged that collaboration with the old parties was natural and necessary for the people’s movement, peace process, constitution writing and its implementation. However, he said it was a mistake to contest the elections together with these parties. “Cooperation was essential when it came from the war and for the implementation of the constitution,” the report said, “But we should introspect that in some way or the other, it was a mistake to contest elections together with the NC and UML in the past.”

Dahal led the government for 18 months in alliance with the UML and the Nepali Congress after the elections and has concluded that people’s democracy cannot be achieved from these parties. The 30-page report was read out in three hours, but the document was not provided to the central members. In the meeting, he asked everyone to take note.

Traditional forces like the NC-UML are also facing more of the present change, from time to time their voices have become more similar to their old feudal forces,” Dahal remarked.
