Kathmandu, December 31: The Lumbini Buddhist University and Beijing University of China signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for bilateral cooperation in the presence of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Monday.

Vice-Chancellor of Lumbini Buddhist University Prof Dr Subarna Lal Bajracharya and Chairman of Beijing University of Language and Culture, Lwang Feng exchanged the MoU at a program held at the Prime Minister’s official residence, Baluwatar.

As per the MoU, the universities of both the countries will work for cultural exchange, language teaching and research activities. Similarly, Nepal Institute in Beijing and China Institute in Lumbini will be established. During the official visit of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to China, an agreement was reached with China regarding the teaching of the Chinese language in Nepal.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Oli, who is also the Chancellor of the Lumbini Buddhist University, expressed happiness over the expansion of academic and academic relations and cooperation between Nepal and China.

National Planning Commission member Geeta Kumari Poudyal Adhikari, Lumbini University’s Registrar Dr Tilak Ram Acharya and officials of the Chinese Embassy in Nepal were also present on the occasion.
