Kathmandu, December 30: The government has announced a public holiday for today on the occasion of Tamu Lhosar (New Year) being observed by the Gurung community in the country.

“Lo” means year and “Sar” means change. Therefore, it is observed as the New Year of the Gurung community.

It is believed that on Paus 15 (December 30), there will be the longest night and from tomorrow, the nigh hours start to decrease.
