
Kathmandu, December 26: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that all organizations and individuals at the national and international levels should unite to solve the challenge of climate change.
Addressing the review program of the 29th World Climate Conference organized by the Ministry of Forests and Environment today, Prime Minister Oli stressed that countries that are at odds on other issues should also work together to keep the air and nature clean.
Saying that the government will manage climate finance, including leading the work to face the challenge of climate change, he stressed that the Ministry of Forestry and the Ministry of Communications should spread awareness so that the forests should not be burnt.
Reminding that he had also said in the 79th United Nations General Assembly that Nepal should be given climate compensation, PM Oli said that Nepal has preserved 17 percent of its territory to protect the environment. PM Oli also urged to start preparations for COP 30 from now on, including the review of COP 29.
The program was also participated by Minister of Home Affairs Ramesh Akbar, Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Devendra Dahal, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Arju Rana Deuba, Forest and Environment Minister Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri, federal parliamentarians, resident representatives of the United Nations, policymakers and local people’s representatives.
