When Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli suggested saying "Sagarmatha" to "Mt Everest" and "Gaidas" to "rhinos", this Babbler appreciated Oli’s idea. It is difficult to pronounce and also remember the spelling of “rhododendron” than to say “lali Gurans”. When Westerners pronounce Kat’mandu to our Kathmandu and “Nephol” to our country Nepal, using Nepali names in English is appropriate.

Sad to say, despite Olijee’s advice, during his tenure as the executive chief of the Nepal government, different cricket teams gave the English names. They could also give Nepali names to their cricket clubs!

About King Mahendra

Harikrishna Shrestha, founding leader of the Rastriya Prajaparishad and owner of the Ranjana Cinema Hall, had once said that Queen Ratna was fond of watching Hindi movies. King Mahendra used to phone him in the morning to manage the Cinema Hall during the night hours. At about 10 pm the Queen used to arrive at the Ranjana Cinema Hall in New Road, alone. Shrestha had to stay there by displaying the movie on the screen. Meanwhile, during the night hours, the King used to roam around the New Road area and knock on the doors of the noted critics of monarchy and chat with them at their homes. The King, after meeting with those critics, used to reach the Cinema Hall at around midnight. Once the main gate was locked and the King had to jump the compound wall. Again, once the King wished to have a cup of tea. There was no assistant in the hall, therefore, Shrestha himself prepared tea for the King.

Interesting!

What is meritocracy?

Olijee talked about meritocracy. He said appointments should be done on the basis of meritocracy. It sounds good to listen but Olijee himself gives priority to relatives and then his sycophants and party workers in political appointments.

One thing is clear he doesn’t like his critics.

Journalist Kishor Shrestha worked for the party and contributed a lot to the party but he didn’t get anything from the party specially during the time when Oli became the PM.

The reason is that a long time ago, he had published a photograph in which Oli was sitting with Bidya Devi Bhandari. Oli didn’t like that photograph published in Shrestha’s newspaper. This is the reason that Shrestha became the enemy of Oli.

When Shrestha was going to complete his tenure as the acting chairman of the Press Council, under Oli’s initiative, the cabinet decided to terminate Shrestha. Nevertheless, the Court retained Shrestha in the post.

The leaders are only interested in their party, factionalism and familyism. The King loves his country and his people. That is why the King is said to be common to all.

The prime minister of the comfortable government went on a visit to India after completing six months in the government. Let’s wait for some time as the Oli government has just completed five months. Those who go on an informal visit are usually not given an appointment. When the King of Bhutan came here, our President and Prime Minister did not meet him. Let’s understand the protocol.

During the Panchayat era, if one joined the political party, he had to stay in Paty (a shelter home). Now, during this multiparty era of chaos, one should go to the Pati if he is not associated with any of the political parties.

Unfortunately, big parties are already spoiled and small parties have not been ripe.

When the country's politics goes in the hands of thugs, corrupt, murderers and smugglers, the country and the people will suffer and people’s rights to live will be abducted.

Instead of taking a development speed the country is heading towards degradation. The extreme frustration among the people chooses the path of fleeing from their birthplace. The country and the people are in debts and every month, the debt burden is inclining.
