Kathmandu, December 23: The Civil Hospital under the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration has launched the traditional Chinese Medicine Services today. The service was jointly inaugurated by Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration, Rajkumar Gupta, and Chinese Ambassador Chen Song. This medicine based on the balance of the human body, nature, and energy (Qi) has added a new dimension to Nepal’s healthcare.

The traditional Chinese medicine system is thousands of years old. These include methods such as acupuncture, herbal medicine, massage (tuina), and nutritional counselling. According to the Civil Hospital, these methods have made the treatment more effective by adapting to the modern medical system.

During the program, Minister Gupta mentioned that Nepal-China relations are historic and said that Chinese cooperation in health, education and other fields will be important. He expressed the belief that traditional Chinese medical services will contribute to providing quality healthcare services for Nepali citizens.

At the same time, Chinese Ambassador Chen Song said that traditional Chinese medical services will strengthen cooperation in the health sector between the two countries. He expressed the view that China is committed to supporting the development of Civil Hospital as a special hospital in South Asia.

Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr. Roshan Pokharel, said the inclusion of new and alternative methods in the health system would help provide quality services to the citizens. Executive Director of the Hospital, Dr Vidhana Nidhi Poudel said that traditional Chinese medicine is an important opportunity for those seeking alternative treatment.

During the program, Professor Dr. Poudel requested to take the initiative to establish a card cell lab and said that if this service is established, it will help to develop Nepal as a medical centre in Asia. The Civil Hospital aims to provide comfortable, effective, and alternative treatment services to the citizens through traditional Chinese medicine services. It is expected to widen the scope of healthcare by introducing innovative options in the medical field.
