Kathmandu, December 22: The Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) is preparing to bring petrol and kerosene along with diesel from Motihari in India from the second week of January. The Corporation has been importing diesel from Motihari to Amlekhgunj through pipeline since 2076 BS.

Chief of the Corporation’s Madhes Provincial Office, Pralayankar Acharya, said that bringing petrol and kerosene from the multi-purpose pipeline constructed to import petrol, diesel and kerosene has reached the final stage. The corporation has successfully tested the work of bringing petrol and kerosene from the pipeline under the second phase of the project.

“We have brought petrol and kerosene from the pipeline to Amlekhgunj on a trial basis and a new pipeline and tank have been constructed inside the depot for storage,” Acharya said. At present, the work of charging and testing the quality of meters is going on in these structures.

The pipeline can supply 6,000 kilolitres of petroleum products daily to Amlekhgunj, but due to lack of demand for petroleum products, the pipeline is not in a position to operate at full capacity. “The corporation is not in a position to import 6,000 kilolitres of petroleum products daily,” Acharya said, adding, “Diesel, petrol and kerosene can be operated at full capacity once it is imported from the pipeline.”
