Kathmandu, December 22: The Nepal Electricity Authority has earned 13 billion rupees from electricity exports to India in the past five months. However, the NEA has not disclosed about how much net profit did it make from exports!

In the five months of the current fiscal year, the Nepal Electricity Authority earned 13 billion forty million rupees by exporting electricity to India, the Authority has stated.

The average price of the electricity exported to India is 7.39 rupees per unit, according to the NEA.

Nepali consumers are paying a higher price than the exported price.

Local experts say it would be better to provide electricity to local industries and local domestic consumers at a subsidized price.
