Kathmandu, December 21: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakh on Bhatbhateni Super Market and Department Store in Tripureshwor. According to Dr. Awadhesh Jha, Inspector of KMC Agriculture and Livestock Department, the fine was imposed after the monitoring team found that the spoiled coconuts with fungus were sold.

After a complaint from a consumer at the KMC ‘call center’ the inspection team reached the Supper Market complex in Tripureshwar.

In the process of monitoring, 44 packets of spoiled coconut were destroyed. The action has been taken in accordance with Section 29 of the Market Management and Monitoring Act of 2017. The Metropolitan City has stated that the fine amount has been deposited in the revenue account of the KMC and now it has been instructed to sell goods only by ensuring high quality and eatable items while distributing the above food items.
