
Kathmandu, December 20: Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari emphasized increasing domestic and foreign investment in infrastructure construction and service expansion.
Bhandari, while inaugurating the ‘Fewa Sambad’ which started on Thursday in Pokhara as a joint project of the China Center for South Asian Studies under Tribhuvan University and Sichuan University of China, mentioned that the country’s economy should be increased by increasing investment in development and construction. She said that by increasing foreign and domestic investment, revenue should be improved through domestic production.
Former President Bhandari emphasized that in order to commercialize agriculture, which is the backbone of Nepal’s economy, it is necessary to establish industries at the local level and meet domestic demand. She opined that the economic level of citizens can be raised by increasing the export of indigenous products and creating jobs and sustainable development.
Former President Bhandari said that while accelerating the development process, it is necessary to effectively implement policies and programs that minimize the adverse effects of climate change and adapt to it.
Emphasizing the need for developed countries to provide fair and adequate compensation to the countries that are least exposed to the environmental challenges caused by climate change, former President Bhandari pointed out the need to clearly provide financial resources and technology to provide adaptation and mitigation compensation to the countries at risk due to climate change.
