
Kathmandu, December 16: Speaker Devraj Ghimire has said that parliamentary journalism is important to understand the importance of the parliamentary system in society, to bring its activities to the public and to uplift its height. Speaker Ghimire said this while releasing a book titled ‘Parliamentary Journalism, Concept and Practice’ on Monday.
Ghimire also said that parliamentary journalism is more specific than general journalism. He also said that the journalists have worked hard to take the special rights of the Parliament in the right way. Speaker Ghimire said, ‘After 2046 BS, journalism has played a special role. The activities of the parliamentary affairs and the written news have played a role in making the parliamentarians take responsibility for what should not be done in the parliament.
He also said that the cooperation between journalists and parliamentarians has strengthened democracy. “Journalists should also play a role in the context of trying to weaken the system by showing the weakness of the governance system,” he said
Stating that 15-20 bills are currently in different committees, he also said that the message has gone out that the MPs have not been responsive and that they have not paid attention to the bills. He said, “At such a time, I have repeatedly given instructions to the party leaders and chairman of the committees to conduct their works in a regular manner.”
