
Kathmandu, December 16: Tikapur Airport in Kailali has come into regular operation from Sunday, December 15. The airport, which was closed for 27 years, came into operation on Sunday. Tara Air’s Twin Otter aircraft (YT 1701) carrying five employees and 12 passengers, including three crew members, landed at Tikapur Airport Monday afternoon.
Minister of State for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Run Kumar Chaudhary, Mayor of Tikapur Municipality, Ramlal Dagaura, Vice-President of Tikapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Krishna Bajgain, among others, welcomed him. Talking to media persons at the airport, Mayor Tharu of Tikapur Municipality said that he was working to make the airport of Tikapur obscured and the airport should be operated anyway. As a result, the airport has come into operation now and is the property of Tikapur, he said. He said that the airport has been brought into operation after repeated discussions.
Tara Air is scheduled to operate two Kathmandu-Tikapur flights via Nepalgunj.
