
Kathmandu, December 15: For the first time in history, Nirmala Sharma, a woman candidate for the post of President of the Federation of the Nepali Journalists, will be winning the election and leading Nepali journalists in the country.
Although a formal announcement is yet to be made, Sharma, a common candidate from the alliance government, NC and UML, is leading with a huge margin leaving far behind her nearest rival, Ramesh Bista, a common candidate from the Maoist Center, Socialist Party and others.
Vote counting in the Madhesh Province is in progress, yet, Sharma’s vote is larger than the total number of votes in the Madhesh Province.
The candidates from the ruling alliance, NC UML, have won major posts in the journalists’ organization.
According to the latest vote counting, Sharma has already bagged 3973 votes against Bista’s 2829.
