
Kathmandu, December 13: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that Buddhism is a bright thread in the relations between Nepal and China.
Addressing the Kathmandu Roundtable of the 9th Nanhai Buddhism today, Prime Minister Oli said that the thread will weave together the spiritual and cultural fabric of our two nations and promote sustainable bonds of harmony and understanding.
“Nepal and China share many things more than just borders. We are bound by an indestructible period of our history, the magnificent embrace of our mountains, the life-giving flow of our rivers, and the deep and richness of our cultures. I am confident that this conference will deepen the bonds of friendship, disseminate mutual learning and advocate the eternal values of peace, compassion and cooperation among Buddhist communities in Nepal, China and beyond. “

Prime Minister Oli said that Nepal is the holy birthplace of Gautama Buddha, considered to be the light of Asia, and blessed by his feet, this land has served as a symbol of the bridge between the Buddhist heritage of Nepal and China.
Prime Minister Oli noted that from the visit of Chinese monks to the visit of Nepali scholar Buddhabhadra to China, our shared history is full of exchange of knowledge and learning.
The architectural marvels of Nepali-style Buddhist temples in China and the grandeur of the Chinese Buddhist Monastery in Lumbini stand as eternal monuments to this enduring relationship, he added.
A beacon of knowledge dedicated to Buddhist studies in Nepal, the collaborative engagement between Lumbini Buddhist University and Nanhai Buddhist Academy in China exemplifies the spirit of partnership and common aspiration.
Addressing the same occasion, Chinese Ambassador Chen Song explained excellent relations between Nepal and the recent visit of Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli has contributed giving a new height to the Nepal-China bilateral relations.
Ambassador Song also recalled President Xi Jinping’s Nepal visit as a milestone in strengthening bilateral relations.
Wang Qiang, President of the Shenzhen Overseas Friendship Association, said that Nanhai Buddhism was established with the belief of all religions are equal and for peace and harmony of human beings.
Yin Shun, vice chairman of the China Buddhist Organisation and chief of the Chinese Monastery in Lumbini described the Chinese Monastery in Lumbini as the bridge for strengthening bilateral relations.
He urged for direct flights to Bhairahawa from Chinese cities to bring the Buddhist pilgrimage to Lumbini.
Ministers and Buddhist leaders from 29 countries, including China, Cambodia, Laos, and Sri Lanka, among other countries, also attended the Roundtable.
