Kathmandu, December 4: Finally, Nepal and China have signed the BRI Cooperation Framework today in Beijing.

Nepal’s acting Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai and a Chinese Foreign Ministry representative signed the agreement amidst a function today.

Earlier, while signing other agreements and understandings, the BRI Cooperation Framework was not signed due to the use of words with duel-meaning. Nepal had submitted a draft using “grants/investment”, whereas, the Chinese side removed “grants” and added “debts”, due to which, the document was not signed on December 3.

After searching for an appropriate word, the agreement was signed today during Prime Minister K.P. Oli’s stay in Beijing.
