We are confident that the nation cannot survive under the present political system, furthermore, we are clear that under the leadership of the present outdated leaders – either K.P. Sharma Oli or Sher Bahadur Deuba or Pushpakamal Dahal – the nation cannot progress.
The government has arrested Durga Prasain on the charge of creating “false” propaganda against Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli. Prasain has alleged Oli for investing in the Smart Axiata Telecom Company in Cambodia. The security organ, instead of investigating the alleged report, arrested Prasain.
We are the living witnesses about the financial position of those leaders. They have become multi-billionaires overnight. From where they earned money, we can assume.
We know that the sitting PM Oli had visited Singapore for plasma therapy of his kidney several years ago. Reports appeared that Oli’s medical expenses were borne by Satish Lal Acharya, the major shareholder of the Ncell company. After completion of the operating tenure, the Ncell should have automatically come under government ownership but the government decided to extend the tenure.
We saw the sitting PM Oli flying to China on a private sector airline company instead of flying with the government-owned Nepal Airlines. Certainly, one of the major shareholders of the airline had benefited Oli personally, and in return, was rewarded with different profit-earning businesses. After all, the conclusion is that Oli is not a leader with a clean image.
Earlier, former prime minister Baburam Bhattarai had alleged the three supreme leaders including Oli and Deuba, for sharing billions of rupees received as commission, should have also taken action or investigated on the issue. Accordingly, Bhattarai had alleged misusing billions of rupees by Dahal while paying compensation to the Maoist PLAs. Why aren’t these cases to be investigated, these are the burning questions.
In fact, none of the leaders are clean and if they claim that they are clean, should they dare to form an independent and powerful probe commission and try to get clean chit on these allegations?
We see two types of laws in Nepal. One law is for those helpless people who have no reach on the political parties and the government and another law is for those who believe that they are above the constitution. Unless the constitutional bodies are made autonomous and powerful, we cannot curb corruption. Today, the judicial body is under the influence of different political parties in power. Accordingly, the CIAA is also under the command of different political parties. Political parties have ruined the educational institutions and universities. In such a bleak situation, the nation cannot function. A political change is thus obvious.
