
Kathmandu, November 26: Spouses and children under 18 years of those in foreign employment who are listed in the contribution-based social security fund will also get health treatment facilities.
Kaviraj Adhikari, Executive Director of the Social Security Fund addressing a function organized on the occasion of the 7th Social Security Day on Tuesday, informed that previously only the workers in foreign countries were receiving medical treatment, now the treatment service had been added for their husbands and wives and their children under the age of 18.
He informed that 19,767 formal sector employers and 5,43,388 workers have joined the fund as of Monday and said that the number of workers joining is continuously increasing.
He mentioned that so far the fund has paid 11.62 billion rupees to the fund’s contributors and their families due to workers who are sick, met accidents, became disabled, senior citizens and death claims.
He also informed that besides the central office of the Fund, offices have been established in Biratnagar, Simra, Butwal, Nepalgunj, Pokhara and Janakpur to expand the scope of the fund.
