Kathmandu, November 26: Communications and Information Technology Minister Prithvisubba Gurung has clarified that the government will not take loans under the Chinese project Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). He said that during Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s visit to China next week, the government will not take loans but is eager to accept on projects under grants.

Minister Gurung said at a program organized today in Dhulikhel on the occasion of the first anniversary of <madani bit.com”> news portal run from Kavrepalanchok, “There are two angles on whether or not to implement BRI, but the government is not saying that BRI should not be accepted, it should be implemented as the government has already signed on the MoU,” said Minister Gurung.

Minister Gurung mentioned that it is not unusual to have a difference of opinion towards BRI and said, “The countries that accepted the BRI projects are doing well.”
