Kathmandu, November 23: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has imposed a fine of one hundred thousand rupees on the ruling UML for littering during a public meeting.

The Metropolis issued a fine for polluting the environment and littering the King’s Way while organizing the mass assembly on Friday, December 22.

Municipal Police has submitted a letter to the UML central office, stating that the fine of Rs 100,000 was imposed under the Waste Management Act, 2068 BS, and the Kathmandu Metropolitan City Finance Act, 2081 BS.

In reaction to the fine, UML’s general secretary, Shankar Pokhrel said that it was just a stunt created by Mayor Balendra (Balen) Shah to defame the UML.

To recall, Balen Shah is the Kathmandu Mayor elected as an independent candidate.
