Kathmandu, November 22: The government has fallen into a serious crisis on the eve of Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli’s China visit.
PM Oli wants to ink on the agreement for implementing BRI since it had approved the BRI framework in 2017.
Now, PM Oli is saying that he wanted to sign on the BRI implementation agreement, whereas, the Nepali Congress has not approved signing on any agreement under BRI.
Sources report that the NC is insisting on signing agreements without naming BRI. Accordingly, NC has objected to any project from China under loans.
Sources say that the Indian Mission in Kathmandu has put pressure on NC leaders to stop Oli from signing the BRI-related agreements.
The cabinet meeting held on Thursday, November 21, also could not finalize the PM’s visit agendas due to the obstacles created by the NC.
PM Oli is scheduled to visit China from December 2 to 6.
