A novel based on the story of a boy from hill (Pahadi Keto) unveiled amidst a function on Saturday, November 9.

Authored by Dhan Bahadur Gurung aka DB Sir, founder of the Rhododendron International Boarding School (RIBS) is based on the writer’s own stories started from Barbote, Ilam, his birthplace. 

The book was jointly unveiled by senior literate Bairagi Kaila, literate, social worker and former Rastriya Panchayat member Bhagbati Das Shrestha, Prof Dr Sekhar Gurung, among others.

Nandu Upreti, the former Academy Assembly member of the Nepal Academy, reviewed the book in two parts.

Upreti expressed the view that while reading the book, he reached back to Ilam, where, he had spent his childhood days.

The author has well described the beauty of villages in Ilam and also the Indian city Darjeeling, where commentator Upreti travelled many times. 

Upreti prescribed reading the book to know the struggle of a boy from the hill (Pahadi Keto), who successfully ran an English school in Kathmandu.

Bairagi Kaila, senior literate and chief guest of the event, said that the book is worth reading to know the beauty of the Ilam district and the struggle of a boy who travelled to Kathmandu and established an English school, RIBS.

Shrestha also congratulated author of the book, Gurung, for publishing the book.

Ghanashyam Luintel, Chair of Ward No 5, Chandragiri Municipality, appreciated the cooperative nature of D. B. Gurung, founder of the RIBS.

Kailash Gurung presided over the function.

On the same occasion, special guest and former member of the Rastriya Panchayat and social worker Bhagabati Das Shrestha was honored by the organizers. Works done by Shrestha, now 92, were read on the occasion.
