Kathmandu, November 5: The government has issued no objection certificates (NOCs) to 27,727 students going abroad to study in the three months of the current fiscal year.
Nepali students have gone to 56 countries to study.
According to the Foreign Study Permit Branch under the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Japan has become the most attractive destination for Nepali students during this period. According to the branch, 9,638 study permits have been issued to study in this country. The second choice for students is the United Kingdom. 5,453 NOCs have been issued to go to study in this country.
The United States has become the third most attractive destination for Nepali students based on their foreign study permits from last year to this month. Three thousand 64 people have taken study permits for the United States during the review period.
A total of 2,262 study permits were issued in Australia, 1,447 in India, 994 in South Korea, 911 in Canada and 519 in France.
NOCs have been issued for studies in Scotland, Romania, Norway, Egypt and Mexico. According to the ministry’s data, students have taken NOCs for studying 70 subjects in a total of 56 countries.
Political instability, the government’s incapability to create jobs within the country and the dark future of the nation are the main reasons for youths living in the country. When there is a crowd of youths going abroad for higher education, colleges and campuses in the country are facing a scarcity of students, on the other hand, Nepal is spending precious foreign currency for students going abroad.
The government should think timely about learning and earning and also guaranteeing jobs within the country.
