Kathmandu, October 25: The Nepal Electricity Authority has cut down the electricity of 34 industries denying to pay dues.
Earlier, the Authority had reconnected electricity after Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli put pressure on NEA Executive Director Kulman Ghising to resume electricity.
Following the NEA regulation, it issued a notice giving a deadline for clearing the NEA dues.
During a recent board meeting, Energy Minister Deepak Khadka had asked NEA Executive Director Ghishing not to stop electricity supplies to those industries, however, Ghishing took a stance saying that he needs a written order on this. The Minister didn’t give a written letter to the NEA.
The government seems taking a soft stance towards the industries in collecting dues from industries.
The government is even trying to oust Ghising from the post of the NEA chief executive.
