Kathmandu, October 20: The visiting delegation of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), led by its Secretary Chen Gang, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today.

According to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, during the meeting held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar, discussions were held on further strengthening the relations between the two countries and the two parties.

Prime Minister Oli said that the all-round development, including the end of poverty, in China under the leadership of the Communist Party of China and General Secretary Xi Jinping is extraordinary and Nepal wants to benefit from that development. PM Oli hoped for China’s continued support in Nepal’s economic development, noting the formation of a new government with the cooperation of the two major parties UML and Nepali Congress for political stability.

PM Oli said that the exchange of high-level visits should continue as the two countries have government-to-government, people-to-people as well as trade, mythological and cultural relations.

Prime Minister Oli reminded that while remaining committed to the One-China policy, Nepal has always been clear about not allowing the use of Nepali soil for any activities against China.

The PM’s Secretariat informed that Chinese leader Chen visited Kathmandu following an instruction from President and Secretary General of the CPC, Xi Jinping and retreated that China is always together with Nepal for its happiness and prosperity.

Chinese leader Chen also said that China always respects the decisions made by the political parties in Nepal and informed that he would brief about issues discussed during the visit.

Earlier, the Chinese high-level delegation met Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and also Pushpakamal Dahal, chairman of the Maoist Center and leader of the main opposition party in Parliament.
