Kathmandu, September 26: Foreign Minister Dr Arju Rana Deuba has requested the G20 countries to increase the amount of aid for least developed countries (LDCs). As the president of the LDC, she asked for assistance for the least developed countries at the meeting of the foreign ministers of the G-20, who were in New York to participate in the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations. Presenting examples of the least developed countries of the world suffering from various problems, Minister Deuba said that those countries are suffering due to the Covid-19 epidemic, the effects of climate change, and geopolitical tensions, according to her private secretariat. To achieve inclusive economic growth in LDCs, to achieve the goals of sustainable development and to promote health security globally, to make effective programs to reduce the impact of climate change, further support is needed for the least developed countries, she claimed. “The G-20's cooperation will be important in bridging the digital divide and reducing the multifaceted problems we are facing," the private secretariat of Minister Rana informed. The Foreign Minister thanked Brazil, the G-20 chair, for hosting the meeting focusing on social inclusion, poverty alleviation and sustainable development.
