
Kathmandu, September 19: The government has decided not to allow taking licensed arms to government offices and public places.
The government had issued a notice stating that even arms licenses with travel permission would not be allowed to be taken to judicial bodies, parliament buildings and premises, offices with arms licenses except bringing them for renewal of licenses.
According to a notice issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs in the Gazette, the arms are prohibited from being carried to government offices, hospitals, airports, public vehicles, religious and educational places, cinema halls, commercial buildings, market place and shopping malls, meeting places, archaeological and protected places, children’s homes and other areas prohibited by the prevailing law.
In the notice, the Government of Nepal has said that in the exercise of the powers conferred by Section 8 of the Arms Act, 2019, arms that have obtained a license to keep or carry arms by Section 3 of the same Act but have not obtained a travel license under Section 4 and 5 cannot be taken out of the house.
According to the notice published in the Gazette, “Arms that have obtained travel license are prohibited from being taken to government offices, hospitals, airports, public vehicles, religious and educational places, cinema halls, commercial buildings, market place and shopping malls, meeting procession places, archaeological and protected places, children’s homes and other areas prohibited by the prevailing law, except to bring or carry them for renewal of the license to judicial bodies, parliament buildings and premises, offices with arms licenses.
