Kathmandu, September 12: The Sports Institute of Yunnan University, Yunnan Traditional Archery Association and Kunming Zenji Archery Club have expressed their commitment to support traditional archery, wushu and wrestling in Nepal. Prakash Kumar Kusari, a member of the National Sports Council and President of the Nepal Wrestling Association, informed that in a meeting with the representatives of the Nepal Wushu Federation, Martial Art Organization of Nepal and National Sports Council in Yunnan, China, the head and officials of Yunnan University made such a commitment. Abhishek Vikram Shah, Vice President of Nepal Wushu Federation and Rajiv Maharjan, Deputy Secretary General and Senior Coach also participated in the discussion. After the discussion, a memorandum of understanding was also signed between the two parties to support the development of traditional archery, wushu and wrestling games in Nepal. The memorandum of understanding was signed by Vice President Shah and Traditional Archery Association Yunnan Branch President Kong Uizhang on behalf of the Wushu Federation. Under the eleven-point agreement, exchange of coaches, giving opportunity to Nepali athletes for training by the university and association, holding at least one program a year jointly. It has been agreed to provide the necessary support for the production of new players, cultural exchange and social awareness for the development of traditional archery and wushu and wrestling, participate in competitions and conduct sports awareness campaigns.
