Kathmandu, September 5: Nepal became chairman of FEMBOSA, the Forum of Election Management Bodies of South Asia on September 4. Daso Sonam Tobge, Chief Commissioner of the Election Commission of Bhutan, handed over the chairmanship to Dinesh Kumar Thapalia, Chief Commissioner of the Election Commission of Nepal at the opening session of the 12th Conference of FEMBOSA.
Election commissioners and representatives of Nepal, as well as, India, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Maldives and other countries, are participating in the Forum’s conference. The conference will focus on ‘hot issues of elections: climate change, social media and displacement’.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli addressed the opening session of the 12th conference on Wednesday. The 11th conference was held virtually two years ago under the leadership of Bhutan.
