Kathmandu, August 29: The government has appointed acting Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Gen Ashok Sigdel to the post of the CoAS effective from September 9.
President Ramchandra Paudel, under the recommendation of the Nepal government, has appointed General Sigdel to the post of the CoAS.
According to the President’s office, Acting Army Chief Sigdel has been appointed as the CoAS according to Article 267 (5) of the Constitution.
In a statement issued by the Office of the President on Wednesday, it is mentioned that Sigdel’s appointment as the new army chief will come into effect from September 9.
