BABBLES

When a mass gathered to observe the Gaura festival saw Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba and Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli on the stage at the Open Theater, started to chant slogans against them.
The youths protested the two leaders asking them to quit the country.
Meanwhile, Deuba expressed his reaction alleging the crowd an undisciplined and mannerless people.
Prime Minister Oli expressed his disappointment with the situation, emphasizing that true Nepali values are about harmony and peace.
He lamented that some members of the new generation seem to disregard civility, decency, and dignity.
Whether the leaders get any lessons from the protest against them? Did they know the mood of the people against them?
Gundaraj in TU
The then Queen Mothers Kanti Rajya Laxmi Devi Shah and Ishwari Rajya Laxmi Devi Shah, spouses of King Tribhuvan, spent their personal property and ornaments to establish the Tribhuvan University at a time when there was no university in the country. They might have dreamed that good students would be produced and they contribute to nation-building. They had never thought that the University would be captured by the Gundas (gangsters) protected by the political parties and those Gundas lock up the University most of the time.
The University, instead of becoming a purely educational centre, has become the venue for producing political leaders having a gangster background.
Unfortunately, the Education Minister had to ask the Prime Minister to manage security in the University as the TU officials were unable to go to the University following threats from the so-called student leaders.
Those students who were pelting stones in yesteryears, Gagan Thapa, Ramkumari Jhakri and Yogesh Bhattarai, among others, are the youth leaders today. In the same way, those gundas of today may become the youth leaders tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli wants to make the educational institutions as venues for politics. He has encouraged the teachers to do politics. He believes, there should be strong party-affiliated student organisations in the educational institutions.
What the country can expect from such leaders?
When reports are disappeared
Several reports have been submitted by different probe committees regarding gold smuggling, cooperatives fraud, managing government undertakings, and electricity dues, among others.
The government forms committees and the committees, spending the government fund and their efforts, are found giving appropriate suggestions to the government but such suggestions have never been implemented.
Why there is a debate and division among the lawmakers on the issue of collecting the NEA dues from the industrialists? Why the reports on cooperative fraud have not been implemented? Why our government undertakings are ruined?
If the government works honestly, all the problems can be resolved. The truth is otherwise. Those vested interested groups are closely associated with different political parties and they are protected by the political leaders, therefore, nothing is resolved.
As we believe, any of the governments constituted these days, are strongly controlled by brokers. All the anomalies are related to those brokers and middlemen, therefore, the situation has gone from bad to worse.
QUOTES OF THE WEEK
5-year limitation on corruption cases, bringing even the private sector under the jurisdiction of the authority, changing alliances, and changing federal and provincial governments frequently. The major parties, which are adding fuel to the fire of citizens' despair, flight and confusion, are not going to leave this country until it is completely destroyed!

Girija Prasad Koirala, whom India called the towering personality of unity, later had to wait for hours just to meet the then Foreign Minister Mukherjee! Lhendup also received Indira's red carpet-welcome! If the issues of unequal treaties, territorial encroachment, EPG report etc. are not raised, every Nepali PM and minister's visit to India will be successful!

Reforming a university plagued by politicization and mediocrity is not easy. There is a need for comprehensive and ruthless reforms at the structural level. However, the debate is limited to surface reactions. The political leadership should think about the risk that the future of the country will be ruined when higher education collapses!

The people kept asking, when will the Dhulikhel-Khawa road be built? I kept saying, this year. Three leaders became the minister of Physical Planning. The ministers and DG did not build four kilometers of the road. Last week, I met the minister, the secretary and the DG. Finally, the DG asked me to meet the contractor to find out when the road was going to be constructed!

Years ago, there was a minister who would say, "This is the way things should be done" when newspapers published reports about him.
In other words, publishing news was considered to be the job accomplished. Now everything is like that! According to the times!

When there is a powerful UML-Congress government, the education minister has to publicly appeal for university security! What happened to governance and security? The lifeline highway of the capital was closed for hours. Many roads are unstable. Let the government show influence!

The Minister of Education demanded security from the Minister of Home Affairs for the departmental officials of the Tribhuvan University. It has been two weeks since the dharna was staged at the women's nursing home in Nepalgunj against the appointment of the provincial minister, who was accused of serious charges. What is the disease of the Nepali Congress being unaware of the duty of good governance after being in power?

At Tribhuvan University, it was reported that the officials had to go on leave after the student organization threatened them by saying that the person supported by the students should be made the head of the department.
These "Halluds" are more in a hurry to make the country Europe, and America than the youth who sweat in the Gulf countries from morning to evening. Embarrassing!

If I am deprived of my right to know the truth, any of the rights given to me by the constitution are meaningless!

How to hide the corruption of your whole life by setting the limit of five years? Ordinary people will understand why they are saying the limit.

The slogans of republicanism and federalism leading the nation to a destination have now become a damaged coin and infamous. Both the general secretaries (of the Nepali Congress) should understand this reality. People will not accept it.
Badri Narsingh KC
The non-students exhibiting the Talibani act at Tribhuvan University are state-protected and party-protected criminals. Everyone knows those leaders who are protecting them. They say they will kill officials if juniors are not appointed by sidelining seniors. This is brutality performed by the new Taliban.
Prem Bahadur Chalaune
The so-called big parties and big leaders of Nepal are repeatedly proving that the ban imposed by King Mahendra on political parties in 2017 is justified even after 60 years! For these leaders, the country is just a platform to loot and eat!
Roshan Sibakoti
Youths should not quit politics, they should intervene in politics, they should take the lead role in politics because the politics done today will determine the future of the country and the people.
