NC president Deuba calls a meeting of vice presidents and general secretaries for Tuesday.
Kathmandu, August 26: Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba has called a meeting of vice presidents and general secretaries. Deuba has called the meeting at his Budhanilkantha residence at 11:00 am on Tuesday for only five office-bearers.
Only two vice presidents and two general secretaries have been called to the meeting, the chief secretary at the NC Party Secretariat Krishna Prasad Poudel informed.
The central committee has not yet approved the report passed by the NC Mahasamiti meeting held at Godavari. The same report is going to be discussed in the office-bearers' meeting.
The NC's establishment faction has objected to two proposals of general secretary Gagan Thapa to hold the general convention within 2082 BS and not forge an electoral alliance. Deuba argued that the central committee has the right to decide the date of the general convention and the issue of whether or not to form an electoral alliance is not a policy but a strategy, so it cannot be kept in the document.
It is believed that to settle down the disputed issues in the document, the meeting has been called.
