After the 22nd meeting of the central committee of the Nepal Communist Party (UML) held last week in Kathamandu, C.P. Mainali, known as a prominent leader of the minority faction within the party, seemed to have gone into hiding from the media.
Why Mianali has been afflicted by such a media phobia is unknown to the intellectuals and journalists. Highly credible sources inside the party claim that Mainaly is satisfied with the outcome of the meeting as most major demands forwarded by him to the party have been fulfilled.
A source believed too much-closed to Mainali, on condition of anonymity, told the Review that Mainali had soured an outstanding victory not in terms of the fulfilment of his major demands but also concerning the hard-liners within the party who were hatching a big conspiracy to oust Mainali faction from the UML’s hierarchy.
