BABBLES

Power-hungry Pushpakamal Dahal’s government failed when UML’s K.P. Sharma Oli betrayed him. Oli, another power-hungry leader, joined hands with yet another power-hungry Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba and became the prime minister with the support of the Nepali Congress.
Now, Dahal, who is ousted from the government, is saying that the Americans toppled him and Hasina. Knowingly or unknowingly, Dahal has expressed the commitment that he was against the USA.
Then, Dahal confirmed that he was a pro-Indian leader.
Sheikh Hasina also said that as she denied the American proposal for allowing an American airbase in the Bangladesh territory, turmoil took place in Bangladesh compelling her to flee from the country.
Confusing reports about Kulman Ghishing
We know that Kulman Ghising had paid a commission worth 15 million rupees to the Maoist Center through the then water resources minister Barshaman Pun to get reappointment to the post of the executive chief of the Nepal Electricity Authority. We are convinced that Ghishing is not a clean person.
Ghising claimed that the NEA under his leadership has earned profit. It is good if the claimed profit was genuine but a section of people are saying that the report was fake.
Also, they have blamed Ghising for developing the NEA a money-making machine.
The government intends to oust Ghishing, it is clear. Therefore, there is the possibility of creating false propaganda against Ghising. The government is free to investigate against Ghising and if found guilty, he should be punished.
Be that as it may, we support Ghising’s move to collect old dues from crooked industrialists and we condemn Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli’s plan to resume electricity in the industries refusing to pay the old dues worth billions of rupees. If the PM wishes to consider the businessmen, he should pay the NEA dues from his pocket, otherwise, he cannot misuse the government’s treasure.
Can our government undertakings survive?
Those were the days when all the government undertakings were earning profit and some of them were paying the highest amount of revenue to the government. Until the end of the Panchayat era, those government undertakings were running smoothly. Since the nation adopted the multiparty system, those government undertakings started to ruin. The political parties and leaders made the government-owned agencies a major source for making commissions and corruption and a party workers' recruitment center, due to which, the government undertakings were totally ruined.
If the government wants to run such government undertakings smoothly, first of all, the political leaders should stop all kinds of intervention and make effective the anti-corruption bodies. Moreover, professional officials should be assigned by replacing those appointed based on political belief. Unfortunately, these initiatives cannot be possible under the present political structure.
QUOTES OF THE WEEK
(Reacting on Pushpakamal Daal’s proposal for a Left unity) First of all, after deciding who gets to eat where and how much, it is done together. In reality, the political compass has been lost, what is Bampanthi (left wing)? It would be more honest to say Hampanthi unity (a unity for eating)!
Dipak Gyawali
(In reaction to the proposed project for constructing a petroleum pipeline by India): It is not surprising that India wishes to construct the pipeline at its own expense to continue its monopoly in trade, but what is surprising is that if Nepal needs to replace it with electricity to get rid of its addiction to petroleum products, why would it create more infrastructure to import petroleum products?

Let’s establish the tradition of the minister resigning and the chief executive of civil aviation being suspended after every air accident. Otherwise, air accidents will continue to happen in the current system without accountability!

The provinces have become a burden to the country, this is a mess. There was no need for it in a small beautiful country like Nepal. Let's get rid of it as soon as possible. Also, the people must wake-up to abolish secularism, proportional election system, etc.
Lokesh Dhakal
Those who say "king" and "people", they have their country, nationality, home, family, society and culture. Party, party leaders, workers, bag porter communists, etc. don’t have a country, nationality, faith, religion, responsibility, or accountability.

There is no sense in boasting that we have made the people empowered by the politics of losing even the normal opportunities for employment and creating the compulsion of ordinary citizens to go abroad for employment if they cannot stay in the country. What is the meaning of saying that after demolishing the house, everyone is free to go to the open ground and sleep wherever they want?

As far as I know, no current Nepalese leader was born with a silver spoon in their mouth. And since they assumed power, they have not done any productive work other than politics! How did they build huge palaces in Kathmandu without exploiting the state? One among them coughs that he did not commit corruption.
Krishna Pokhrel
In a country where corruption is at its peak, corrupt people are dominating every pore of the state structure -- what is the idea of proposing a law with a 5-year limitation on corruption? This phenomenon of corrupt people protecting each other for a few years and finally giving clean chit.

When a foreign secretary of a foreign country arrives in Kathmandu, he is lucky enough to meet the president, prime minister, ministers and leaders of the ruling and opposition parties. We can see such things only in Nepal. Nepal's ambassador has to wait nine months just to meet the foreign minister in a neighboring country and, when the foreign minister goes on a foreign visit, he has to return without meeting the prime minister.
Kamal Thapa
The provision of a year's time limit for investigating corruption cases is just a drama! Instead of doing this drama, a law should be passed that everyone should be forgiven according to the principle of offensive move, no matter what kind of robbery, theft or corruption they have committed.
Dr Prakash C Lohani
It could be more practical to give exemption to some high-ranking people such as the Prime Minister, ministers and party chairs by making a special arrangement considering the situation rather than limiting the time for five years on corruption cases!
Daman Nath Dhungana
When an employee of a foreign country visits Nepal, the president, prime minister, ministers and other top leaders meet him with priority. What kind of diplomacy is there? Which system of wisdom will it flourish?
