Kathmandu, August 9: Pakistani ambassador Abrar H Hashmi paid a courtesy call on Vice President Ramsahaya Prasad Yadav at the VP’s office in Lainchour on Thursday.

During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations, business and economic cooperation and cooperation in the international forums, among others.

VP Yadav said that Nepal and Pakistan enjoy excellent and cordial relations since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries on March 20, 1960.

The VP said, “It is necessary to continue dialogues and contacts through the joint economic commission and bilateral political consultation mechanism.”

VP Yadav urged the expansion of cooperation in trade and economic areas.

“Both the countries can jointly work in the field of investment, tourism, couture, and people-to-people relations,” he said.

The VP welcomed the Pakistani investors in water resources, tourism, infrastructure, and information technology. He extended thanks for the Pakistan government’s continuous support by providing scholarships to Nepali students in the medical and engineering sectors.

The VP also expressed the commitment to reviving the SAARC as the chair of the regional organization.

Pakistani Ambassador Hashmi recalled cordial relations between Nepal and Pakistan and the two countries respect each other’s sovereignty.

The ambassador commended Nepal for Nepal’s role in SAARC.

The ambassador recalled that eight Pakistani investors participated in the investment summit and one investor has already inked an agreement for investment in Nepal.
